Tampa Man Accused Of Fracturing Skull Of Girlfriend's 3-Month-Old

A Tampa man has been charged with aggravated child abuse after reportedly fracturing a 3-month-old baby's skull.

BRANDON, FL – A Tampa man has been charged with aggravated child abuse after reportedly fracturing a 3-month-old baby’s skull.

At 6:45 a.m. Friday, July 13, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a call from Brandon Regional Hospital regarding a 3-month old baby girl suffering from an unknown head injury.

Upon examination, hospital staff determined the child had multiple skull fractures with swelling on her brain. She was transported by helicopter to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, where she underwent emergency surgery. The baby is currently in critical condition.

Demarcus Lamar Johnson, 25, of Tampa was the sole care provider of the child while her mother was working overnight. When the mother returned home from work around 4 a.m., she discovered the baby with head trauma and took her to the hospital.

Johnson is the mother's live-in boyfriend but is not the child's father.

Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse at 9:45 p.m. Friday.
