Tampa Motorcyclist Killed in I-75 Wreck

A Riverview man was driving the truck involved.

A 42-year-old Tampa man is dead following a crash on the southbound entrance ramp to Interstate 75 from Fowler Avenue Friday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:35 a.m. as a dump truck driven by Ricky Brown Jr., 35, of Riverview was heading west on Fowler as a motorcycle was heading east on Fowler.

Brown turned left onto the entrance ramp and into the path of the motorcycle. The front of the bike struck the right-rear of the truck’s trailer, ejecting the rider into the roadway.

Brown did not stop initially, unaware that a crash had occurred. Brown heard about the crash over the radio and returned to the scene a short time later, a highway patrol report stated.

The motorcyclist, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
