BRANDON, FL — A crash involving a tractor-trailer truck hauling cars closed Interstate 4 at U.S. 301 for 2 1/2 hours Saturday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, just after 6 a.m. James Bacon, 62, of Plant City was driving a semi hauling cars east on I-4 just east of U.S. 301 when he lost control and collided with a guardrail, damaging nearly 200 feet of the barrier.
The truck then came upon several asphalt steam rollers parked along the shoulder of the highway, sideswiping three of the rollers before jackknifing in the center of I-4. In the process, a red pickup truck on the trailer came loose and landed on the highway.
