Watch: Dancing Dog Will Steal Your Heart

Shelter workers are hoping the little girl's fancy paw work will be enough to help her find a good home.

ORLANDO, FL — A little dog with some serious moves is stealing hearts while burning up the Internet.

Named “Ginger Rogers” by the workers at Orange County Animal Services, the critter isn’t like other strays that turn up at the Orlando shelter. It seems the 1-year-old, 19-pounder also has a passion for putting on a show. She’s dazzled shelter workers with her fancy footwork, err paw work, and has become a video star in the process.

Ginger arrived at Orange County’s shelter on Monday. A video of her moves was posted to Facebook on Wednesday and had already received more than 80,000 views by Thursday afternoon.

Courtesy of Ginger’s newfound fame, an animal rescue has stepped forward to help. The county is still accepting adoption applications to help the critter find a permanent home. Ginger is heart worm positive, which means she will require some extra care. That also means the adoption fee has been waived in her case, animal services reported on its Facebook page.

And, if Ginger isn’t available, the shelter has plenty of other animals up for adoption. The same can be said for most shelters across the country.

The ASPCA estimates about 7.6 million companion animals are brought to shelters each year. About 2.7 million are adopted by new owners while nearly 650,000 pets are returned to their owners. About 31 percent of all dogs brought to shelters are euthanized while 41 percent of cats face the same fate, the ASPCA estimates.
