Willy Bridges was a prominent saxophonist in the R&B scene who contributed to the field of entertainment for many years.
Whether or not you knew Willie, you definitely have heard him play his sax. From Hendrix to Whitney, Willie performed with several artists (too many to mention here) such as Aretha Franklin, King Curtis, Quincy Jones & Gladys Knight, to name a few.
Willie also released a solo album entitled Bridges To Cross which included such artists as Cornell Dupree, Anthony Jackson, Steve Gadd & a whole host of other top players of that time.
Willie lived out the later chapter of his life in the Tampa Bay area. Those of us who also live here were fortunate to have the opportunity to both perform with & hear him play. Willie performed in many local venues including O'Brien's Irish Bar, which makes it all the more fitting that this event be hosted there.
Come one - come all - & bring your ax! All of Willies musical contemporaries will be there including many musicians from The Belecasters Tuesday Night Open Mic Blues Jam. This is going to be a musical jam night of celebration that you won't want to miss!
