Signs Target Man Who Pleaded Guilty to Domestic Violence

The Florida woman is plastering her ex-husband's image on signs to help her see to it that a restraining order is enforced.

A Haines City woman is fed up with living in fear for herself and her children.

That’s why the domestic violence victim has put a twist on mobile advertising tactics to help keep her ex-husband at bay.

Motorists who see Nancy Pannelli-Baynes tooling around town are also likely to see magnetic signs on the side of her car that contain her ex’s image, the case number for his recent domestic violence arrest, the charge he pleaded guilty to back in July and the number for the Haines City Police Department. That last bit is to ensure others know how to help if they spot her ex, John Baynes, within the 500-foot barrier a restraining order spells out, according to ABC News.

John Baynes, 65, pleaded guilty to domestic violence, The Ledger reported. Court records indicate he abused his wife and their three adult autistic children, who still live at home, ABC reported.

Although Pannelli-Baynes was successful in getting a restraining order against him back in April, he was arrested a few days later for violating it. He was again arrested in May for violating the order, The Ledger reported.

Pannelli-Baynes came up with the idea for the signs, she told ABC, after spending weeks living in fear.

“I wanted people to look at us and say you cannot do that to her anymore,” ABC quoted her as saying. “You can’t do that to the children anymore.”

John Baynes has yet to be sentenced on the domestic battery charge.
