Wrong-Way Driver Arrested in Brandon

BRANDON, FL — A 28-year-old Brandon man faces charges after a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy spotted him going the wrong way on Providence Road early Saturday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy spotted a red Acura heading north in the southbound lane of Providence at Badlands Drive around 1:36 a.m.

“The driver crossed into the northbound lane, continued northbound and took a left onto Brandon Parkway,” the agency wrote in an email to media.

When the deputy pulled the man over, he noticed signs of impairment, the email said. Subsequent tests revealed blood alcohol levels of .195 and .189, the email said.

Kevin Joseph Wills Jr. was charged with driving under the influence.
