1 Officer Attacked During Juvenile Detention Center Riot
Tampa Police say 25 youngsters were involved in the Monday morning incident.

Seven juveniles face criminal charges after a Monday morning uprising at the Les Peters Juvenile Corrections Academy in Tampa.
According to the Tampa Police Department, a corrections officer was attacked in the incident that occurred in the early morning hours. That officer was not seriously injured.
All told, about 25 youngsters were involved in the disturbance, police wrote in an email to media, and seven are being charged with crimes ranging from felonies to misdemeanors. None of the juveniles were injured in the disturbance, police stated.

Damage to the 3930 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. facility is estimated at less than $1,000.
About 15 Tampa Police officers responded to the facility to help bring the situation under control. The corrections academy is described as a secure facility by police.
