12 Ducklings, 1 Pooch Saved by Same Fire Crew
The same crew was called out Sunday to help in two rather unique cases.

Hillsborough County firefighters are known to go above and beyond to rescue people trapped in burning builds, crashed cars and other tight spots. Sometimes they save animals, too.
Sunday turned out to be such a day for the folks assigned to Fire Rescue Engine 10. While the day started out like any other, the crew found itself called out on not one, but two animal rescues before Sunday came to a close.
The first call came in the afternoon when 12 ducklings were found caught in a storm drain off Waters Avenue. Capt. Mike Moseley, driver engineer David Mewborn and fire medic Justin Andrews quickly stepped in to pluck the stuck critters out of the drain and send them on their way with their anxious mother.

The crew’s work wasn’t over, however. Later that evening, a call came in from the Park at Waters Apartments. It seems a little pooch was in the process of receiving a bath when its tiny paw managed to slip and get stuck in the drain. Unsure of how to free the animal without injury, its owner called fire rescue for help.
Engine 10’s team, with a little help from the folks assigned to Truck 6, managed to safely free the pup, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Nacole Revette reported.

“Thank you to all HCFR crew members on scene for keeping the citizens and pets of Hillsborough County safe,” she wrote in an email to media.
