2 Men Arrested Shortly After Tampa Bank Of America Robbed: Sheriff

CARROLLWOOD, FL — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives say they've arrested two men accused of robbing a Bank of America Saturday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, a man entered the Bank of America at 10301 N Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa at 10:17 a.m., jumped onto the teller's counter and then behind it, and demanded money from the bank employee.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the robber got into a waiting white Honda Accord outside the bank.

Detectives said they quickly located the car involved in the robbery at the Park on Waters apartments, 2701 W Waters Ave., and discovered it was registered to 48-year-old John Ward. Inside the car, detectives discovered large amounts of cash matching the money stolen from the Bank of America.

Detectives said they questioned a man seen running in the area wearing only boxers and a white tank top, leaving the rest of his clothes at a nearby lake.

The man, 28-year-old Terry Zukowski, who lives at the apartment complex, admitted to driving the white Honda Accord during the bank robbery as well as the getaway car during a robbery at the Suncoast Credit Union on Aug. 3. He named Ward, 48, of Armenia Avenue, Tampa, as the robber in both cases, according to the sheriff's report.

"Thanks to the hard work, great investigative skills and quick response by deputies responding to the scene, the two suspects were located and charged," said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

Ward and Zukowski were both charged with robbery while wearing a mask.

Ward was released on a $20,000 bond. Zukowski, who was also charged with possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and violation of probation, is being held on $25,000 bail.
