2nd Fire in Days at Islamic Education Center
A mosque in northwest Hillsborough County has been set ablaze two times in the past few weeks.

TAMPA, FL — A Wednesday night fire at Town ‘N Country’s Islamic Education Center is under investigation by multiple agencies. The fire was the second one reported at the center over the past few weeks.
According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the latest blaze broke out around 6 p.m. Wednesday at the 6450 Rockpointe Drive center. When crews arrived, they found “moderate smoke coming from the roof area,” an email from the agency said.
No one was inside the building when the fire erupted, the agency added. The building was significantly damaged during a previous fire on July 17. The initial fire was blamed on a probable lightning strike.
