38 Pounds of Pot Seized from Carrollwood Area Grow House
A Crime Stoppers tip led to the investigation and subsequent arrest.
A 47-year-old Carrollwood area man faces a long list of criminal charges after a Crime Stoppers tip led Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies to his door.
According to the sheriff’s office, a complaint was lodged about a possible marijuana grow house at 3207 Ehrlich Road in mid-January. Acting on the complaint, deputies began investigating and turned up enough evidence to obtain a search warrant.
That warrant was served on Tuesday.

Inside the Ehrlich Road home, detectives discovered a room converted for the purpose of growing marijuana. They also found 21 marijuana plants, 218 grams of processed marijuana, 1 gram of powdered cocaine and $3,715 in cash.

The total weight of the marijuana seized was 38 pounds, which adds up to a street value of about $76,000, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated.
TECO was also called out to check for an illegal electrical connection. As it turned out, there was one, the email stated. The estimated amount of power theft added up to about $8,400, the email noted.
Luis P. Quinones was subsequently charged with trafficking in marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, owning, leasing or renting for the purpose of trafficking, possession of drug paraphernalia and grand theft of electricity.
Quinones was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and was being held Thursday without bond, according to jail records.
This is the third grow house bust in recent weeks prompted by a tip submitted through Crime Stoppers.
