AUDITIONS!
Looking for twelve young actors to portray various students taking an important classroom test where "Murphy's Law" rules!
THIS IS A TEST
“This play remains a perennial favorite with audiences of all ages! Who can’t relate to the idea of a killer test, and we’ve all had ‘that teacher’-the one who seems to dislike you no matter what. The levels of humor and subtle shifts in time and place make this play entertaining and fun to produce.” —Jennifer Pasko, Solanco High School, Quarryville, PA.
By Stephen Gregg. As the ticking clock reminds you, only 60 minutes remain to complete this oh-so-important predictor of your future. But you didn’t get the review sheets, the teacher doesn’t like you and your classmates are blatantly cheating. Time passes and the voices in your head remind you that though you are having trouble with the test, your personal life is far, far worse. Then you reach the essay question. The good news—it’s an opinion essay. The bad news—it’s in Chinese. And things aren’t going to get better! One int. set. Approximate Running Time: 30 minutes.

Rehearsal Classes to be held on Tuesday 7:30-8:30pm at Mary Jo’s Performing Arts Academy
Join us in this exciting performance class this spring! The class will present the One Act THIS IS A TEST at the end of the spring session. This is for the student that is interested in participating in a straight non-musical performance. Rehearsals will be held during class time except for the final days prior to performance. The student will experience the full audition and rehearsal process. This is the perfect primer for the student who is planning to audition and compete in high school or community productions. Overall, this course serves as a concentration in all aspects of drama and theatre with a focus in acting for both the stage and screen. As part of the rehearsal process, the class will still cover aspects of both media as well as include the audition experience and incorporate improvisation techniques, character development, text analysis, theatre vocabulary, practical skills, and include solo and ensemble acting. Students must be enrolled in the class to audition. Call Mary Jo’s Performing Arts Academy at 813-969-0240 x228 or visit mjpaa.com.
