If You Want To Get Someone's Attention, Whisper.
Are you beating people up with your marketing message? Do you think they still hear you after the 25th time you tell them how good a service provider you are? No they don't and here's why!
I know, I know. Some of you have heard this phrase before. I borrowed it from a hair product or something like that, but it does make sense. Let me explain.
In the world of marketing, it seems like everyone is out there like a side show barker trying to get everyone else to at least hear what they have to offer.
No bueno, my friends. Aren't you kind of desensitized to all that "barking?" I suggest that you tone it down a bit and do us all a favor. Let's see if this connects for you.

Remember when you were a kid and you were constantly saying "Mom" to your mother, and she pretty much stopped hearing you after the 10th time? Same deal here. "Mom," the prospective customer, does not hear you anymore because you've been yelling her name now for a while. Try something different. Whisper.
I always ask this question when I'm doing training. How often would you watch or listen to an all commercials TV or radio station? Not much, if at all, right? Use that as your driver in your marketing message. Don't always talk about yourself. Share relevant information that is closely related to what you do.

For instance, you're a dentist. Don't talk about your special on deep cleaning but instead, discuss a related subjects like "what animal has the biggest teeth" or "how white is too white?" Talk about dating and bad breath. That ought to get some attention.
Now, I'm not suggesting that you completely stop talking about your business an its services and or products, but I am asking you to consider sprinkling that type of information into your marketing.
With all that being said, take into account the platform you're using. If you're creating a direct mail piece, then you definitely want to talk about your services and products. If you're putting an ad in a paper or directory, same thing.
But if you're posting on Facebook or any of your other Social Media vehicles, use the above suggestions. You don't want to bang people over the head with your services, prices, discounts and credentials. They may never visit your page again.
Instead, whisper.
