Details Emerge in Crash That Killed 17-Year-Old
Police have not ruled out criminal involvement in the accident that claimed a Chamberlain High School student's life.

The Tampa Police Department continues to investigate a Tuesday morning pedestrian fatality that occurred along Busch Boulevard.
According to the agency, Alexis Miranda, 17, was crossing Busch around 7 a.m. on her way to Chamberlain High School when she was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the car has been identified as Belovedofgod Chiza Ndegwa, 33, of Port Republic, Md.
Police say Miranda was in the center double turn lane when she was struck. Miranda was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Ndegwa remained on scene and has cooperated with the investigation. While no charges have been filed at this time, “detectives have not ruled out criminal involvement,” an email from the agency to media stated.
The crash closed Busch Boulevard in both directions for a time Tuesday morning. The road reopened around 9:45 a.m.
