Carrollwood Day School Sends Three Athletes to Regionals
It was a long, hot day with a lot of tough competition but the CDS Patriots came through in a big way.
Carrollwood Day School was one of the smallest schools at the 1A District 9 meet, but that didn't stop their athletes from taking some of the top spots.
Sophomore Robert Davis tore up the track in sprints. Robert won his 100m preliminary heat with a time of 11:35 seconds. He won his 200m heat by several strides with a time of 23:70 seconds. The finals came and Davis turned up the heat. After stumbling out of the 100m final blocks, Davis recovered to take second place and qualify for regionals.
Next, he improved on his 200m time in the final with a run of 22:98 seconds making him district champion.

Next, junior Bailey Drury made the finals in both 100m and 200m sprints. She finished sixth in the final for the 200m in 28:10 seconds, just outside of qualifying but she rallied in the 100m coming in fourth and qualifying for regionals.
Finally, freshman Alex Schweitzer won her 300m hurdle heat in 51:08 seconds. Then she tweeked her knee in the final but still managed to capture fourth place and qualify for regionals.
