Carrollwood Nursing Assistant Accused Of Stealing Wedding Rings

A certified nursing assistant is accused of stealing wedding rings from residents at a Carrollwood assisted living facility.

CARROLLWOOD, FL – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for a certified nursing assistant accused of stealing wedding rings from residents at a Carrollwood assisted living facility.

Dian'te Ja'shad Matthew, 24, of 1402 Mulberry Drive E., Tampa, is wanted on charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property, defrauding a pawnbroker and exploitation of an elderly person.

According to the sheriff’s office, between June 10 and 14 while working at the Arbor Terrace Assisted Living Facility, 13810 Sheldon Road, Tampa, Matthew took a wedding ring from a 91-year-old resident and reportedly pawned it at Mr. Money Pawn on June 14.

While searching records for other items pawned by Matthew, detectives also came across a second victim from Arbor Terrace. That resident’s wedding band was also stolen and pawned on May 26.

Detectives were able to locate both rings and return them to their owners. They are continuing to search for other victims.

Matthew was terminated on June 17 when he did not show up for work. He hasn’t been seen since.
