Deputies Investigating Carrollwood-Area Shooting

Victim is 18 years old, according to the sheriff's office

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred around 5:26 p.m. today in the parking lot of 8218 Grady Avenue North, which is about two blocks west of the intersection of North Dale Mabry Highway and Waters Avenue.

The sheriff's office received a call around 5:40 p.m. today saying that someone had been shot at the Grady Avenue address. When deputies arrived, the victim, 18-year-old Pablo Cisneros, of 3320 Nakora Drive in Tampa, had already been taken to University Community Hospital.

Cisneros had non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

As a precaution, Leto High School, which is less than a mile away, was placed on lockdown while deputies searched for a suspect.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, deputies talked to Cisneros, who said he was in the parking lot at the Grady Avenue address with several other men when a fight broke out between two of them. Cisneros tried to break up the fight, according to the sheriff's office, when shots were fired.

Cisneros was shot in the leg and hand, the sheriff's office said.

Cisneros said he does not know the shooter, but said he was a Hispanic male between the ages of 16 and 17 who is about 5'9 and wore a red jacket and blue jeans.

The investigation is ongoing.
