Update: Missing 12-Year-Old Carrollwood Girl Found

She is safe and is being reunited with family, the sheriff's office reports.

Update May 24, 4:37 p.m.: Shania Elizabeth Sanchez, 12, has been located. She was staying with a friend, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports, and is now being reunited with her family.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is looking for assistance to find a runaway 12-year-old girl who was last seen over the weekend.

Shania Elizabeth Sanchez of the 15000 block of Lake Magdalene Boulevard is said to have left her home around noon on May 19 and hasn’t been seen since. The girl is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Sanchez is believed to frequent the area of North Dale Mabry Highway and Northdale Boulevard. She is a student at Ben Hill Middle School.

According to a sheriff’s office media release, it is believed that Sanchez is a runaway. She has no history, however, of running away in the past.

Anyone who has seen Sanchez or has information about her whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 813-247-8200.
