Deputies: Thief Opened Bogus Sam's Club Account

Deputies say the identity thief managed to rack up nearly $5,000 in charges in someone else's name.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is looking for help identifying a man it says charged thousands of dollars in another man’s name.

According to the agency, the suspect in the case strolled into the 15835 N. Dale Mabry Highway Sam’s Club around 6 p.m. Sept. 22. The man proceeded to use another person’s personal information to open a charge account. Once that was done, he charged a grand total of $4,716.73 on the new account. With merchandise in hand, the man left the store.

Deputies say their suspect is a white male who stands about 5 feet, 6 inches tall. He weighs an estimated 150 pounds, has a tan complexion and short salt-and-pepper hair. He’s estimated to be between his mid-50s to early 60s.
