Update: Leto Student Struck by Car

The driver was cited.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about a crash that sent a 16-year-old Leto High School student to the hospital Friday morning.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ariana Pajuelo was in the crosswalk at Sligh Avenue West and Hesperides Street North on her way to school around 7:02 a.m. when the crash happened. Motorist Saundra Yvette Daniels, 52, was heading west on Sligh in a 2001 Lexus RX 300 when she failed to see the girl and struck her, the sheriff’s office said.

Pajuelo was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for her injuries and was in stable condition as of Friday afternoon. Daniels was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian crosswalk, the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.
