Update: Veterans Expressway Lane Now Open
Part of the roadway was closed Monday due to erosion damage.

Update Sept. 29, 3:02 p.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that repairs have been made and the southbound lane on the Veterans Expressway has opened to traffic again. The erosion damage was caused by the recent heavy rains.
Update Sept. 29, 11:28 a.m.: The Florida Highway Patrol says the work is expected to be completed Monday afternoon. In the meantime, the outside lane remains closed while traffic is moving in the inside lane. The congestion southbound is “approximately two miles,” Sgt. Steve Gaskins wrote in an email to media.
Earlier: Motorists traveling southbound on the Veterans Expressway might want to anticipate some delays.

The southbound, outside lane between Linebaugh and Waters avenues is closed for repair, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. A large hole has opened up near the expressway that requires repair before the lane will reopen.
It is unclear at this time how long repairs might take.
