CAN BUILDING COMPETITION ~ ON-SITE COMPETITION DATE IS SATURDAY, MAY 19TH, 2012!!
Join the fun & feed the hungry!!
Inviting all YOUTH between K-12- there's an exciting can food drive between now and May 19TH for the Community Food Pantry. Once you collect the cans of all kinds and non-perishable items you will be building structures with the cans and competing against each other in the 1st Annual Can Building Competition to benefit the COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY. This years theme is THE BEST SUMMER EVER!!! The Community Food Pantry provides groceries for over 250 families in north Tampa. It's an easy way to raise awareness of the hungry in our own backyards. The winning school/ group will receive a beautiful award for can building It can be school-wide, however other small groups may particiapte as well, choir, chess team, NHS, YMCA soccer team, a service club participant, a soccer team, flag football team, Karate class, a single grade or class, a local dance group, your neighborhood friends, great IB project etc. No limits other than your group must consist of only students in grades K-12!!
Our team will also go to individual schools and host "off-site" building competitions where groups are allotted 45 minutes to build their structure. We will take video and pictures for the final voting. All voting will be done by the Community Food Pantry team after all teams have completed their can food drive (by May 18th.) The invitation to have your team build at the Community Food Pantry with other groups on Saturday morning, May 19th at 10:00am is again, always an option.
This is sure to be a rewarding local event...and a much needed service to those families hungry in North Tampa.
