Forest Hills Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

The accident occurred early Wednesday morning.

A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday when the bike he was riding collided with a light pole.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies say Max Maza was heading eastbound on Busch Boulevard doing about 50 mph when he accelerated away from the light at Linebaugh Avenue. He looked behind him and drove off the road, into a light pole.

Maza was checking to see if a group of cyclists he’d interacted with earlier were still following him, Cristal Bermudez Nunez, sheriff’s office spokeswoman, said.

Although Maza was wearing a helmet, he suffered serious injuries, Bermudez Nunez said. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he died around 2:45 a.m.

Maza had no driver’s license or motorcycle endorsement for the 1998 Honda he was riding.
