Free Library Programs Include Tai Chi and U.S. Citizenship

Library releases calendar of events.

The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative recently released its calendar of September events - which includes fun stuff like using cupcake decorating to adult Tai Chi.

The Jimmie Keel Regional Library, 2902 W. Bearss Avenue, is hosting events this month.

  • Tai Chi With Bonnie Birdsall will be held on Monday, September 10, 17 and 24 at 1p.m. This class accommodates varying capabilities, from adults participating from a chair due to injury to those studying in preparation to teach. Birdsall modifies each movement to meet the individual needs of each student. Participants should wear comfortable clothing.
  • That Takes The Cake! will be held for children ages 12 to 18 on Thursday, September 13 at 6p.m. Kids have the opportunity to get creative decorating cupcakes.
  • Order Out Of Chaos: Organizing The Back To School Experience is for all ages. The group meets on Saturday, September 15 at 2 p.m. Betty Arnold, the Organizing Queen, teaches students how to develop a plan to tackle assignments, due dates and tasks to bring order to their daily activities.
  • Becoming A U.S. Citizen will be taught on September 17, Constitution and Citizenship Day. Meeting at 7 p.m., representatives of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service will provide valuable information about the process and eligibility criteria to gain citizenship. They will also perform a practice citizenship interview for participants to watch. A question and answer session will follow. Prospective citizens and anyone interested in the citizenship process are encouraged to attend. This event is for adults.
