Zack had a memorable if not bittersweet end to his career as a Gaither wrestler. He wrestled in the heavyweight class at 285lbs. and up, and was 27-9 in the season.

He qualified for regionals at the district competition but severely injured his ankle. He went into regional competition on crutches and wrestled on one leg. He lost both matches, but showed his dedication to his team and his school.

Zack started high school as a football player, but injured his ankle during his freshman year. Friend Michael Drapeau got him to join him on the wrestling team. Zack gave up on football and pursued wrestling, going 60-48 in individual matches in his career.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Strapp made sure to point out Massey’s eye-popping GPA. Zach currently holds a 5.56 weighted GPA. He plans to continue his studies by going into mechanical engineering at Mercer.

Zack was beside himself at the signing.

“This is the most excited I’ve ever felt in my life,” he said.
