Pedestrian, Deputy Involved In Crash Identified

The woman struck was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment after the Ehrlich Road crash.

TAMPA, FL -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian and one of its own Friday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, Deputy Angelique Costa, 35, was riding in marked patrol vehicle around 2:38 p.m. Friday on Pennington Road. When Costa turned eastbound onto Ehrlich Road, she struck a pedestrian who was crossing Ehrlich, the sheriff's office wrote in an email to media.

"The pedestrian has been transported to St. Joseph's," an email from the sheriff's office said. "The pedestrian was conscious and breathing."

The pedestrian has been identified as Cecelia Plagemann-Dulcey, 33. Deputies say her injuries are not life threatening.

It is unclear if Plagemann-Dulcey was in a crosswalk. Whether Costa, a two-year District I veteran, will face a citation is also unclear.
