LEC hosts free Lunch & Learn: Personal Safety and Self-Defense with Trina Cruz

Bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy a free Lunch & Learn lecture at the Life Enrichment Center each Wednesday at Noon. On Wednesday, May 22, join Trina Cruz of Damsel in Defense to learn about personal safety tools and hear tips for being safer while at home or around town. Trina will demonstrate safety equipment such as stun guns, pepper spray and personal alarms, and talk about how and when to correctly use these types of tools for safety and self-defense.

Damsel in Defense was founded in September 2011 to make products for safety-conscious women. Damsel in Defense is about equipping women with the tools to not only keep safe but to give them the confidence to know they have a way out if they ever feel threatened. Their mission consists of three principles, to Equip, Empower and Educate their consumer. Trina Cruz is one of 8,000 Independent Damsel Pros who distribute Damsel in Defense’s products and fact-based education programs.

The Life Enrichment Center is an innovative continuing education center for active adults, operating in North Tampa’s Forest Hills neighborhood since 1980. It is the only private non-profit in Hillsborough County and one of few across the country specifically addressing the social, recreational and educational needs of high-functioning, well, active older adults. Its cultural arts program has received national and international recognition and serves as a model of a successful community-based organization, serving adults primarily 50+.
