The magic foursome of Carrollwood Players leave patrons with "Doubt"

A priest... a boy... a perceived indiscretion... a nun with convictions. What happens when you're not sure?

Ever have a headache that despite medication still lingers ? You have that constant throbbing despite your best efforts to relieve the pain. That is what “Doubt” has given me. I saw Jim Russell’s dramatic interpretation of the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning play and I thought I was confident in my viewpoint: A +B = C; however, a week later, I am faced with doubt.

Did he or didn’t he?

Featuring the superb talents of Amy C. Ragg as Sister Aloysius, Kymberli Welch as Mrs. Muller, Jen Martin as Sister James, and Jeff Roush as Father Flynn, if you haven’t seen this incredibly acted dramatic performance, you are missing a great opportunity.

Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize, John Patrick Shanley’s play is set in the Bronx in the fictional Saint Nicholas parochial school during the fall of 1964. It is a riveting story of suspicion cast on Father Flynn’s behavior and what happens when Sister Aloysius takes matters into her own hands.

Though set in 1964, the play takes on several issues that still resonate today: gender in the Catholic Church, tradition versus modernism, race and sexuality.

The limited run ends on Saturday November 15.

Tickets for Thursday-Saturday‘s show can be found at www.carrollwoodplayers.org. Thursday‘s show includes a talkback with director and cast. On Thursday, students with ID can see the show for $10. High school students can get volunteer hours for the talkback.
