The beauty of the burger lies in the fact that it is customizable to one’s taste buds and is easily rounded out with a side of golden brown fries. For this week’s Patch Picks, we found five burger serving favorites that you can sink your teeth into.

1.     Five Guys Burgers and Fries, 13149 N. Dale Mabry Highway. The proof of its goodness is in its non-descript wrapping. Grease spots, which fleck the brown paper bags the burgers and fries come in provide, hints about the deliciousness tucked away inside. The burger itself has 15 different toppings options which make for over 250,000 different customizations of the burger. The beef that Five Guys uses is fresh and never frozen and all burgers are cooked to a sizzling well-done.

2.     Burger Monger, 10412 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Burger Monger takes its name very seriously. The beef served up at Burger Monger is 100 percent Akaushi Kobe Beef. The same care is also taken with the toppings which include imported French Brie cheese, cherry wood smoked bacon and a host of other frills. Hot dogs, milkshakes and malts are also on the menu.

3.     Honey’s, 11115 N. Dale Mabry Highway. This family owned and operated restaurant has been serving up sports bar fare since 1962. Honey’s menu features a build your own burger. Choose from over 30 toppings including marinara sauce, pepperoni and suicide sauce.  Burgers start with a half pound of beef, but another half pound is available for an additional $2.99.

4.     Steak ‘N Shake Restaurants, 16201 N. Dale Mabry Highway.  You won’t find ground beef here as Steak ‘n Shake is the home of the steak burger. Burgers range from the traditional cheeseburger to more adventurous guacamole steak burger and Wisconsin buttery steak burger. Cravings don’t stop at this chain restaurant which is open 24 hours.

5.     Chili’s Grill and Bar, 13050 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Chili’s is the home of Tex Mex cuisine, but its burgers are definitely Tex.  Chili’s dedicates a whole section on its menu to its signature Big Mouth Burgers. Varieties include an avocado burger and jalapeno smokehouse burger which add some diversity to standard cheeseburger.
