Valrico Man Dies Following Accident In Rain On I-275

CARROLLWOOD, FL -- A 49-year-old Valrico man has died of injuries sustained in an accident on Interstate 275 at Dale Mabry Highway on Wednesday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 1:11 p.m. June 12, Jeffrey Mathew was driving a Hyundai Genesis north on I-275 east of Dale Mabry when he lost control in the rain and collided with a guardrail.

The car rotated and came to rest along the inside paved shoulder.

Mathew was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital where he died.
