15 Pinellas Restaurants Cited For 20 Or More Code Violations

Seventy-four restaurants didn't pass the first inspection. However, those restaurants did pass subsequent inspections.

LARGO, FL – There’s good news and bad news for Pinellas County residents and visitors who are planning to dine out this weekend.

The good news is 87 restaurants in the county passed inspections by the Florida Department of Health on their first visit during the past month.

The bad news is 74 restaurants didn’t pass the first inspection. However, those restaurants did pass subsequent inspections and none were forced to temporarily close.

Inspectors did file administrative complaints against several Pinellas County restaurants including Boardwalk Pasta & Seafood, 5901 Sun Blvd., St. Petersburg, which was cited for 14 violations on May 10.

The most severe violations, according to the inspectors, included storing raw salmon with ready-to-eat vegetables in the walk-in cooler and placing raw chicken next to cooked ribs in the cooler.

Pasadena Yacht & Country Club Dining, 6300 Pasadena Point Blvd, Gulfport, was cited for 18 Department of Health violations on May 9, including keeping outdated cooked shrimp in its single glass-door cooler.

The following Pinellas County restaurants had the most violations in the past 30 days:

41 violations -- Deccan Spice Tampa Bay, 2325 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater

29 violations – Pasadena Yacht and County Club Dining

29 violations – Deeya Indian Cuisine, 2779 Gulf To Bay Blvd, Clearwater

27 violations – The Avenue, 330 1st Ave. S., St Petersburg

26 violations – Golden Bee, 2129 Drew St., Clearwater

24 violations – Strokers, 30901 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor

24 violations – Mana Mana Falafel, 530 Park St., Clearwater

23 violations – Panda Lover, 1969 Sunset Point Road, #4, Clearwater

23 violations – Corner Bar & Grill, 2116 E. Bay Drive, Largo

22 violations – Astro Skating Rink, 875 Cypress St., Tarpon Springs

21 violations – Snack Shack, 15100 Gulf Blvd., Madeira Beach

20 violations – Sweeties Ice Cream Parlor, 842 Dodecanse Blvd., Tarpon Springs

20 violations – Fin’s Grill, 1026 Nebraska Ave., Palm Harbor

20 violations – Catcher and the Rye, 917 11th St., Palm Harbor
