CLEARWATER, FL - Clearwater police have arrested a man in the drive-by shooting death of a 30-year-old pregnant woman who was killed Sunday night, Dec. 17, in the 1500 block of Scranton Avenue, police said. Elizabeth Rosado of Palm Harbor was riding in the car with her husband, their 10-year-old daughter and her brother when the shooting occurred.
Police identified the shooter as Charles Allen, 40, who has a history of drug offenses, police said. Allen was in the back of a white Buick traveling on Scranton Avenue when a Nissan Sentra driven by Rosado's husband, Javier, attempted to pass the Buick. Allen told police that he became paranoid that he was about to be robbed and shot with a high-powered rifle into the Sentra.
Rosado, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was hit with gunfire and died about 8:19 p.m. Rosado was about three and a half months pregnant, police said. No one else in the car was injured. The white Buick left the scene.
