CLEARWATER, FL — A 39-year-old Clearwater man who volunteered as a youth football coach was arrested Tuesday and charged with harmful communication to a minor, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit began their investigation after receiving a tip that Reginald Seay was having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl.
Investigators learned that Seay, a volunteer coach with the Tarpon Springs Junior Spongers, met the victim at the football field when she was 13, the sheriff’s office said.
Seay engaged the victim in a texting relationship over a three-month period, sending sexually explicit messages and showing the victim his penis over Facetime, deputies said.
Detectives also found that Seay directed the victim on multiple occasions to delete their text messages, stating their conversations could put him in jail.
After being arrested at his Clearwater home, Seay admitted to allegations during an interview with detectives, the sheriff’s office said.
