Pizza, bagels and wings: See which restaurants are opening and closing in Largo (tampabay.com) β New dining options are headed to the Clearwater-Largo border, including a second Boardwalk Pizza location on South Highland Avenue and a new Playmakers Bar & Grill tied to former Downtown Pizza owners. Largo's Ulmerton Road corridor is also adding a New York-style bagel shop, while a longtime Kwik Stop owner across from the new Boardwalk site prepares to close and return to Pakistan.

Florida upcoming events Aug 24 (lemonwire.com) β Clearwater residents have a busy week of live entertainment, including DEVO's "Mutate Don't Stagnate" show at The BayCare Sound and several Clearwater Threshers road games against Lakeland. The statewide roundup also highlights nearby Rays home games, Dunedin Blue Jays baseball, big-name concerts in Tampa and Orlando, and family-friendly attractions across Florida from August 24β30.

Pinellas County commissioners explore local e-bike regulations (wusf.org) β Pinellas County officials are weighing new rules for e-bikes and fast electric devices that would also affect riders in Clearwater, from possible lower trail speed limits to age and ID requirements. A regional workgroup including Clearwater staff recommends cracking down on non-compliant bikes, boosting safety education in schools, and coordinating with law enforcement and rental companies.

USF Athletics CEO Rob Higgins Has 'Not A Second To Waste' As Concrete Pours (forbes.com) β USF's new beach volleyball program spent its inaugural season playing home matches on Clearwater Beach, but will soon move into a new six-court facility on campus as part of a $400 million athletics overhaul. The university is also racing to complete a 35,000-seat on-campus football stadium and adjacent athletic center, aiming for a transformative 2027 opening that reshapes Tampa Bay's college sports scene.
