His mother says he's staying positive despite likely long-term effects, while Clearwater police urge parents to keep children off sidewalks with high-powered bikes and prioritize safety.
2. Florida man filmed a fight with his girlfriend over cheating, and police say when he woke up after a laptop hit his head, she was deleting the videos (newsbreak.com) — A 57-year-old Clearwater woman is accused of striking her boyfriend with a laptop during a cheating argument in their Cleveland Street high-rise, allegedly knocking him unconscious and then trying to delete his phone videos. She now faces three felony charges, including aggravated battery and false imprisonment, and is being held on $20,000 bond while prosecutors review the case.
3. Man being held in Pinellas jail dies in hospital (tampabay.com) — A 60-year-old man jailed at the Pinellas County Jail in Clearwater has died in the hospital, four days after deputies found him in medical distress in his cell. Officials say he had several preexisting conditions and found no evidence of injuries from the jail, while his burglary and related charges were still pending at the time of his death.
4. Golf News You Might Find Interesting (thelascopress.com) — Clearwater will host the 2026 Skechers World Champions Cup at Feather Sound Country Club from December 3–6, bringing Ryder Cup legends and World Golf Hall of Famers to town. Residents can attend in person or catch the international team-format event on national TV, with proceeds supporting Shriners Children's and showcasing Clearwater on a global golf stage.
5. Man Allegedly Spent $2,400 on Drinks, Food and Swag at Luxury Resort — Then Put It on Stranger's Tab (people.com) — A man originally from Clearwater has been charged after authorities say he racked up more than $2,400 in food, drinks, and merchandise at a luxury resort in Islamorada, then tried to stick another guest with the bill. Investigators and hotel security allegedly traced the fraudulent charges back to him and a woman also arrested in the case.
