CLEARWATER, FL — Seven students were taken to local hospitals Wednesday afternoon after a Pinellas County school bus crashed into a pole while leaving a concert venue in Clearwater.
FOX 13 Tampa Bay reporter Summerleigh Stones first reported that the crash occurred around 12:48 p.m. Wednesday as the bus was leaving a parking lot across from Coachman Park following a concert at The BayCare Sound.
The television station quoted officials who said the bus was carrying approximately 50 students and staff members when it struck a pole while turning out of the parking lot, damaging the passenger side of the vehicle and one of its tires.
Clearwater Fire & Rescue, along with Clearwater police, said emergency personnel evaluated everyone aboard the bus and seven students were transported to nearby hospitals as a precaution.
All reported injuries described as minor.
Pinellas County Schools told the television station it was notifying parents of students involved in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
