CLEARWATER MAN WINS $1,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE PRIZE IN $2 SCRATCH-OFF GAME
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Lottery announces that Brent Palumbo, 22, of Clearwater claimed a top prize of $1,000 a week for life in the new $1,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE $2 Scratch-Off game, at Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.
Palumbo chose to receive the winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $853,098.08. He purchased his winning Scratch-Off ticket at Hess Express, located at 32 Bay Esplanade in Clearwater.The $2 game, $1,000 A WEEK FOR LIFE, launched on February 5, 2013. There are four $1,000 a week for life top prizes remaining in the game. The overall odds of winning a prize are one in 4.46.
The first LUCKY FOR LIFE-themed Scratch-Off game was introduced 17 years ago with the launch of WIN FOR LIFE, a $2 game. It performed so well that it was reintroduced in 1999 and 2000. In 2004, the $10 game SET FOR LIFE was launched, offering $5,000 a year for life top prizes. Later, the first $20 LUCKY FOR LIFE ticket offering $100,000 a year for life top prizes was introduced. Throughout the years the LIFE family has become one of the Lottery’s best-selling families of Scratch-Off games.
The Florida Lottery offers more than 60 Scratch-Off games at any given time through vending machines and counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide. Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, making up approximately 58 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $495 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2011-12.
