Armed, Suicidal Man Shot By Clearwater Police Dies At Hospital

The early morning incident began at an apartment complex on Druid Road, officials said.

CLEARWATER, FL – A 34-year-old Clearwater man, reportedly suicidal and armed, died at a local hospital after being shot by a police officer at an apartment complex Thursday morning.

Officers were called at 12:27 a.m. to The Sands of Clearwater, 2150 Druid Road, for a report of "an armed suicidal man," later identified as Mitchell Fox, the Clearwater Police Department said.

Fox, who was armed with a gun, reportedly ignored officers' verbal commands to drop the weapon and was shot as he threatened an officer at the scene, according to the police.
