Escape the house and pick out a pumpkin this fall while your family enjoys the fun Clearwater pumpkin patches have to offer.

CLEARWATER, FL — Along with crisp air and turning leaves, a fall tradition for many families is a visit to a local pumpkin patch. And while the coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has caused some of the region's pumpkin patches to modify how they operate, quite a few will be open this fall. We have hours, attractions and activities as the pumpkin-picking season ramps up.
In many cases, coronavirus precautions have merely changed — not shut down — area pumpkin patches and their entertainment options. Below is a list of some of our favorite pumpkin patches in and around Clearwater.
Kirk Church Pumpkin Patch
Kirk Church, 2686 Bayshore Blvd., just north of Curlew Road in Dunedin, has more than 3,000 pumpkins with four professionally designed photo spots in its pumpkin patch. All proceeds go to the annual Santa event that provides more than 350 children with a moment with Santa and a Christmas gift.

The pumpkins come an organization called PumpkinsUSA in New Mexico that helps nonprofit organizations raise funds while employing Navajo Native American staff (including management) and ,during harvest, Zuni and Hopi tribe members as well. The unemployment rate on the Navajo Reservation is 42 percent.

Heritage UMC Pumpkin Patch
Heritage United Methodist Church, 2680 Landmark Drive, Clearwater, will host a pumpkin patch Oct. 10 to 31.
The pumpkin patch will run from noon to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10 and then Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The proceeds from the pumpkin patch will help the Student Ministry fund its mission trips in the Summer.
Gallagher's Pumpkin Patch
Gallagher's Pumpkin Patch, 7401 4th St. N., St. Petersburg, is open through Oct. 31 seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
It includes photo ops with Gallagher's vintage pickup truck, pies, goats and more.

Youth Ministry Pumpkin Patch
Pasadena Community Church, 227 70th St. S., St. Petersburg, will host a pumpkin patch to benefit the youth ministry starting Friday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. Hours are Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
