Big League All Stars Head to World Series

A group of local teens is headed to the Big League World Series after clinching the Southeast Regional Championship on Tuesday evening.

"We did it, we won!" Ann Dingman said enthusiastically Tuesday night, shortly after the game by beating South Carolina 4-2 in Ft. Lauderdale. "(The players) are so excited."

The District 12 Big League All Star team is comprised of players from Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo and Palm Harbor Little Leagues.

Dingman is the mother of Jesse Dingman, 18, a Palm Harbor University High graduate who plays first base for the District 12 squad.

The Big League World Series is July 25 through Aug. 1 in Easley, SC. 

Tuesday turned out to be a very dramatic day for the team. They had made it to Monday's semifinals, but that game was stopped Monday evening because of rain. The team finished the semifinal game Tuesday morning, then went on to clinch the southeast title Tuesday evening.

Florida's District 12 League includes teams from West Pasco, Holiday, Tarpon Springs, East Lake, Oldsmar, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Countryside, Safety Harbor, Clearwater, Largo and West Pinellas.
