A Vote Without A Voice

Broken politics revisited

I observe with disgust and frustration our sad political system in Washington as a bunch of aged, red tied attorneys act like a horde of spoiled kindergarten brats and all in the name of “The American People.”

Do these politicians really believe that we voters don’t understand that their prime motivation is to remain in office by not offending their contributors and the radical, noisy fringes of their own parties?

Do they not see that the vast majority of US voters are centrist, when was the last time any politician won by a landslide? Election results are always close, just a very few percentage points.

Do they really think that what we want is to see nothing but childish partisan bickering over every issue resulting in zero action?

John Boehner stated that “The American people won’t stand for more taxes” – I believe him, but I’m just as sure that The American People don’t have a problem in having tax credits revoked for the most profitable corporations, I’m also sure they wouldn’t have a problem with some Wall Street lout having to pay a few extra points of tax on any earnings over $250,000/year.

In my house when we hit a financial wall, we do what the vast majority of The American People do; we reduce our expenditures and if at all possible increase our income. Of course that doesn’t make sense for our Federal government, they have the opportunity to significantly reduce expenditures and also increase income – but according to the children in Washington that’s not what we The American People want.

I have a vote, unfortunately my voice is never heard, just like the rest of The American people, but I’ll speak anyway………

“Stop playing politics and start acting like statesmen; you are currently presiding over the decline of what was once a great commercial empire. It may be too late to save it, but with action possibly we won’t create a second or third tier country for our grandchildren to try and survive in”

Keep in mind, Belgium has been without a national government for about 9 months and so far nobody has missed it, maybe that's a lesson to be learned there.
