Remembering, Honoring and Respecting 2,977 Lives

Remember, honor, and respect the 2,977 lives that were lost on September 11, 2001 by living your life and keeping and sharing their lives.

Could you have ever imagined a day like Sept. 11, 2001?

A day where evil would surprise so many and catch our nation off guard? It is hard to believe that 2,977 innocent lives were sentenced to death by a perverted ideology, innocent lives that finished too soon.

You probably remember the exact place and moment in time when you grasped what had happened and then realized what was transpiring. Odd isn’t it how we keep those kinds of memories with us in our lives. Maybe it’s our way of remembering and respecting those lives and never forgetting something that should not have happened.

In the days and weeks after Sept. 11, 2001 you might have known someone or heard about someone who should have been included with the 2,977 lives that perished but for what ever reasons or circumstances wasn’t there to be included.  You might have heard the other side too about someone who did something unusual, changed their plans or just did nothing other than what they normally did on a crystal clear blue Tuesday morning.

Somehow and for 2,977 reasons there were 2,977 lives doing what they were supposed to do on Sept. 11, 2001, living.  It’s what we all are supposed to do and it is why we are all here.  These 2,977 lives were living and doing what they chose to do but taken away too soon.

If these lives could come back for an instant or moment in time, what message or messages would these lives tell us? Maybe their message might be to respect and honor their lives, remember them, share their stories in our lives, laugh and cry, but along the way be sure to live your life. Challenge yourself, rise to difficult occasions, take risks, and take nothing for granted, not even a crystal clear blue Tuesday morning.

By living your life you carry on the beauty of their lives and deliver one huge dirty, shoe, sole, slap to the face of a perverted ideology that had foolishly hoped their actions would change your life. Our lives were changed but not the way they had planned. We are stronger for that day. We are better for that day and we will never forget the 2,977 lives that shouldn't have been taken from us that day.

Remember, honor and respect the 2,977 lives that were lost on Sept. 11, 2001 not only on this 10 year anniversary but on other days too. Remember to honor and respect your life too. Because you never know what could happen on a crystal clear blue Tuesday morning.
