Will it ever end?

Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks wrote an open letter to his fellow citizens and I couldn't agree more with what he says.

I've about how angry and disgusted I am with 'our' politicians and their total lack of statesmanship.

These representatives are voted in by generally a very small margin, what they forget is as a representative they are supposed to look after the interests of all their constituents, not just the handful of politically connected people they talk to on a regular basis and not just their major contributors.

It seems over the past few years we have become a nation that is fragmenting into ideological tribes, driven in this direction by our 'leaders' - bought and paid for by special interests and by media clowns who rely on inflammatory rhetoric and our general lack of knowledge to pour fuel on the fire.

There are a little over 300 million unique people in the USA; we all have opinions, beliefs, ideals that are different. My neighbor may have very different views than me, but he is still a human and my neighbor – we don’t fight we get on with our lives recognizing that neither one of us may ever get all we want.

What happened to politics is the same thing that happened to sports – MONEY. Our politicians are driven by the need to collect funds to ensure they are re-elected. 

Their antics, clearly demonstrate that they do not have the best interests of this country in mind, they act like unruly children, I just wonder when we’ll see the first shoe throwing incident or brawl on the floor of the house?.

They have given up their loyalty to country for loyalty to their personal interests. 

Are there any statesmen in power who are willing to say and do the right thing for the country at the risk of their own long term interests? I think not.

A phrase I never want to hear again from the mouth of any politician – “It’s what the American people want, or don’t want”. Politicians you obviously have no idea what the American people want, as clearly demonstrated by your lack of any meaningful action on anything.
