Buck Stops Here; Retiring Clearwater K9 Takes The Cake

The retirement celebration cake really wasn't big enough to share. So, K9 Buck had no qualms about woofing down the entire cake himself.

CLEARWATER, FL – The retirement celebration cake really wasn’t big enough to share. So, K9 Buck had no qualms about woofing down the entire cake himself.

On Wednesday, July 4, Buck officially worked his last shift as a member of the Clearwater Police Department. His last duties wereconducting a sweep of Coachman Park before July 4 festivities.

Buck served the city of Clearwater for 6 1/2 years. He was brought to the U.S. from Germany in October 2011 and completed patrol school in May 2012.

He then became a dual-purpose explosive ordnance disposal dog in August 2014

after completing his explosive detection training.

He also faithfully served as a patrol dog and was directly responsible for dozens of arrests during his career.

When he wasn’t on active duty, Buck enjoyed doing public K9 demonstrations for children and adults.

Buck was partnered with Officer Doug Ambrose during his years of service and will spend his retirement at living a life of leisure at Ambrose' home.
