CLEARWATER, FL — City of Clearwater offices, libraries and nonessential operations will be closed Monday, July 5, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

  • The city's Solid Waste Department will be working Monday, July 5, and there will be no changes to the collection schedule.
  • All Clearwater libraries will be closed Sunday and Monday, July 4 and 5. For online resources and information, visit www.myclearwaterlibrary.com.
  • The Clearwater Airpark operator will close at 3 p.m. July 4 and will reopen as usual July 5.

Clearwater recreation centers will operate according to the following schedule:

  • Clearwater Beach Recreation Center will be closed July 4 and 5.
  • Clearwater Beach Pool will be open July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and July 5 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex will be open July 4 and 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days.
  • Morningside Recreation Complex will be open July 4 from 1 to 5 p.m. and July 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • North Greenwood Pool will be closed July 4 and will be open July 5 from 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Ross Norton Recreation and Aquatic Complex will be open July 4 and 5 from 1 to 5 p.m. both days.
  • The Long Center and Countryside Recreation Center will be closed July 4 and 5.
  • There is no summer camp July 5 at any of Clearwater’s recreation facilities.

Tickets are still available for the Clearwater Celebrates America celebration, which is being temporarily moved to BayCare Ballpark, 601 Old Coachman Road, instead of Coachman Park this year.

The event will be Sunday, July 4, and will feature a concert by The Black Honkeys Band, activities for children and a fireworks display that is designed only for those attending the event. (Fireworks will not be visible for those in neighboring parking lots or roadside.)

Doors open at 7 p.m., and fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $5 each (including parking) and can be purchased at http://bit.ly/ClearwaterCelebratesAmerica.

Drivers in and around BayCare Ballpark and the U.S. 19 and Drew Street areas should expect traffic delays July 4. For police or fire emergencies, dial 911 as usual.
