Clearwater Bicyclist In Crash Flown To Hospital As Trauma Alert

CLEARWATER, FL — A bicyclist was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa Sunday morning with possible life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car in Clearwater Sunday.

Clearwater police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the crash with at 11:34 a.m. at Sunset Point Road and Hercules Avenue. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes east of the intersection.

The bicyclist, Thomas Larkin, 67, of Clearwater remains in critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital Monday morning. Witnesses told officers he was weaving in and out of traffic before he rode into the passenger side of a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. After the collision, he fell and hit his head on the curb.
