Clearwater Solid Waste & Recycling Services Resume

CLEARWATER-FL – The City of Clearwater’s Solid Waste & Recycling services have returned to full staffing and regular service levels.

That means yard waste and bulk item collections have resumed to service levels before the coronavirus pandemic affected city service. Blue-barrel recycling will no longer be rerouted to the Pinellas County Waste-to-Energy Plant. Instead, it will be taken to the city’s recycling processor, where it will be processed as recycling.

Clearwater Solid Waste & Recycling customers should continue to use their blue recycling barrels for recyclable materials only. To reduce contamination of the city’s collected recyclables, residents should remember to Simplify to 5.

The only items that should be placed in your blue recycling bin should be plastic bottles and containers (#1-7), metal cans, glass bottles and jars, flattened cardboard boxes and mixed paper. Everything else should go in the trash.

Please be sure your black and blue barrels are placed at the curb prior to 7 a.m. on your collection day or the night before. Solid waste and recycling crews begin their routes early.

Because yard waste and bulk collections were not being serviced for most of April, residents might experience some delays in their yard waste and bulk collection service due to heavy loads or routes.

If solid waste crews are not able to complete routes as scheduled, they will begin where they left off the day before to ensure everyone receives yard waste and bulk service. Residents are asked to be patient as solid waste crews work to get caught up and collect all materials that have been placed curbside in Clearwater’s neighborhoods within the last few weeks.
