Clearwater Co-Sponsors Paint The Pavement Placemaking Project

Clearwater co-sponsored the painting of a mural at Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Woodlawn Street in the Lake Belleview neighborhood.

CLEARWATER, FL — The city of Clearwater's Neighborhoods Division co-sponsored a two-day placemaking event Friday and Saturday with the painting of a mural at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Woodlawn Street in the Lake Belleview neighborhood.

Lead artist Kumpa Tawornprom joined by 20 volunteers completed the street mural in collaboration with FYI Community Partnerships Inc., Community Services Foundation and the Lake Belleview Neighbors group.

"When the Lake Belleview Neighbors asked to be the first community to paint an intersection, we were thrilled," said Clearwater Neighborhoods Coordinator Jordan Morang. "This is a great opportunity for the neighborhood to collaborate with an artist to create a piece of public art reflective of their identity. Community members have volunteered and helped paint the mural, so this is a true piece of community art."
