Clearwater Cops Need Help Unmasking 'Spiderman'

An armed man wore a superhero mask during a Tuesday holdup at a Clearwater convenience store.

Clearwater Police are looking for a little help in discovering the secret identity of Spiderman.

Not the superhero, to be clear, but an armed robber who wore a Spiderman mask while he robbed a convenience store at gunpoint early Tuesday morning.

Police spokesman Rob Shaw said the man entered the 7-Eleven at 657 Court St. around 4:38 a.m. and ordered the clerk to the floor at gunpoint. The man then ordered the clerk to remove cash from the register and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

“Spiderman” is described as a white male with a thin build. He stands between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches in height. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and that Spiderman mask. He held his gun in his left hand, Shaw noted.

Anyone with information about Spiderman’s identity is asked to call the Clearwater Police Department at 727-562-4242.
